Travel to Bali: How to get to Bali

Flights usually land at the Ngurah Rai International Airport. It is 13km south of Denpasar and 2.5km from Kuta. It is close to many popular Bali resorts and hotels. The taxi will take you from the airport to your resort. It is advisable to bargain first before services are rendered. You can take a bus, use a motorboat or even an aeroplane to get to any destination within Bali. Furthermore, remember to get a tour guide; it makes things easy.

So take a visit to Kuta in the day or spend a night and move on to the next beautiful place. Also, you can do the following while you’re at it:

  • Shopping
  • Enjoying the view of the beach
  • Also, you can visit Kuta Beach, Pantai Jerman Beach, and Pantai Segara Beach while at Kuta.

Tanah Lot

Tanah Lot is an area along the edge of a rock. It is one of the temples in Bali. It is 20km (12.4 miles) away from Kuta, which makes it your next stop. It is also a beautiful place to be with a restaurant in front! In addition, it is better to visit the temple early in the morning or late in the afternoon. The entrance fee is 60,000 IDR ($4.20) for adults, 30,000 IDR ($2.10) for children.

Refresh at Warung Cantik

This is a small, local restaurant. The restaurant is in a low-key setting and with incredible prices. The menu is excellent with quite a lot of Balinese food on to list. Also, you can try one of the locals, Ikan Bakar Gurami (water carp) fish and the clams. Cool off with fresh coconuts while enjoying the view of the rice fields.

Day 2 Visits

Sekumpul Waterfall

Sekumpul waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Bali and Asia as a whole. Also, the waterfall cascades from a height of 260 feet (80 meters). In addition, it has terrific surrounding greenery. It’s a short 15 to 20-minute walk from the admission kiosk. You can also take a swim or decide to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Kayak Around Pura Ulun Danu Beratan

At Pura Ulun Danu Beratan, there is a small temple. Lingga Petak Temple, a famous water temple along Lake Bratan, is not accessible to tourists. Moreover, you can get a wooden boat and kayak around the temple. In addition, the entrance fee is 75,000 IDR ($5.20) for adults, 50,000 IDR ($3.50) for children.

Jatiluwih Rice Terrace

Jatiluwih Rice Terrace, with a rice field of over 600 hectares, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Enjoy the outstretched land and vegetation by walking through the fields. Entertain yourself by listening to the history of the areas, and of course, taking pictures. It is better to visit the field when the plants are still growing. In addition, the view is splendid, entrance fee is 40,000 IDR ($2.70).

Pura Luhur Batukau

Pura Luhur Batukau is a small, serene and peaceful temple. It is on the slopes of Mount Batukaru and is said to protect people from evil spirits. There’s a small lake at the back of the temple that overlooks a smaller temple. This other temple is in the centre of the lake. So how did it get there? Well, it sure is a sight to see! Also, entrance fee is 20,000 IDR ($1.30).

Refresh at Bakmi Akai

This restaurant has branches throughout Bali. They serve the best Chinese-Indonesian food. From noodles to rice dishes to Bakmi Goreng Special noodles prepared just the way you will love it! Equally important, their prices are fair. Have a good time enjoying the lovely view of the luscious rice fields.

Day 3 Visits
Pura Lempuyang

Pura Lempuyang is a temple. One of the beautiful places in east Bali. It is a massive complex with seven temples. Although, tourists visit the first one only, but you can take the time and walk up the mountain to see the other temples. In addition, Pura Lempuyang entrance fee is by donation.

Tirta Gangga Water Garden

This is a clear, spotless garden located 20 minutes from Pura Lempuyang. Take your time and walk around the park and observe the arranged plants, the well-fed koi fish. It’s indeed a beautiful place. Pura Agung Besakih

This temple is also called “Mother Temple”. It is the most significant and most sacred temple in Bali. The Pura Agung Besakih is along the slopes of Mount Agung. Furthermore, this temple has 80 different temples. However, you will need a tour guide to visit these temples. Thus, the entrance fee is 60,000 IDR ($4), and it includes a guide, motorbike ride to the entrance, and sarong rental.

Goa Gajah

Goa Gajah, otherwise called the “Elephant Caves,” is a historical, archaeological site. It is a temple built for meditation over 1100 years ago. There are carvings at the entrance of the cave, making it a unique sight. Also, it has bathing pools, a Buddha temple, and a forest area. There are also shops outside the cave. The entry fee is 50,000 IDR ($3.50), including sarong.

Ubud Royal Palace

This palace is also called Puri Saren Agung. The palace was the residence of the Ubud royal family, and the area is small but shows Balinese architecture. No entry fee for visiting the Palace also.

A Quick Stop at Ubud Art Market

Make a quick stop at the art market and pick a souvenir. Ubud art market is opposite Ubud palace. Glance through the shops and make your choice of paintings, figurines, sarongs, handbags, and so on. Thus, you can get fashionable rattan purses at excellent prices. Also, no entry fee to enter the market.

Pura Taman Saraswati

Pura Taman Saraswati is a water temple dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Saraswati. There is a traditional dance performance in the evening, and there’s no entrance fee to this temple.

The Ubud Monkey Forest

This is another tourist attraction in Ubud. It is a beautiful place to see wildlife. It is a home for the grey long-tailed macaques that live in it.

Kajeng Rice Fields and Juwuk Manis Rice Fields

These two rice fields connect through a dirt path, and these vast lands of greenery are tucked behind a residential area. A walk through these paths brings utmost peace. There is no entry fee into this beautiful scenery.


Day 5 Visits

You have seen some of the beautiful places in Bali. Next, you may want to head to Ngurah Rai (Denpasar) International or Domestic Airport for your departure.
